Renowned Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has revealed that he once faced severe public backlash and allegations of blasphemy following a statement regarding his faith. He shared that the criticism reached a point where people began questioning his religious status and the validity of his marriage.

In a recent Islamic podcast discussing intellectual and spiritual themes, Abbasi recounted how his views on God and the afterlife led to numerous warning calls. He explained that during a discussion, he was asked about the level of his conviction. He responded by stating that while he believes in God, he avoids claiming 100% empirical certainty because he hasn't physically seen the Divine—a nuance that was widely misinterpreted.

The actor disclosed that some individuals went as far as claiming he had fallen out of the fold of Islam. He was reportedly advised by critics to recite the Kalima again and re-perform his marriage contract (Nikah), under the assumption that his previous one had been nullified by his remarks.
