ATC Sentences DIG to One Month Prison Over Delay in PTI Protest Case Challan
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has sentenced DIG Jawad Tariq to one month in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 for failing to submit the investigative challan on time in a PTI protest case.
وفاقی دارالحکومت اسلام آباد کی انسدادِ دہشت گردی عدالت نے پی ٹی آئی قائدین کے خلاف درج احتجاجی مقدمے کا چالان وقتِ مقررہ پر پیش نہ کرنے پر سخت ایکشن لیتے ہوئے ڈی آئی جی جواد طارق کو ایک مہینے کی قید بامشقت کی سزا کا حکم دیا ہے۔
دورانِ سماعت، انسدادِ دہشت گردی عدالت کے جج طاہر عباس سپرا نے پولیس محکمے کی جانب سے لاپرواہی اور عدالتی احکامات کو ہوا میں اڑانے پر شدید ناراضگی کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے یہ فیصلہ صادر فرمایا۔
عدالت عالیہ نے قید کے فیصلے کے ساتھ ساتھ ڈی آئی جی جواد طارق پر ایک لاکھ روپے کا نقد جرمانہ بھی عائد کیا۔ مذکورہ کیس پاکستان تحریک انصاف کے احتجاجی مظاہروں کے سلسلے میں درج کیا گیا تھا، جس کی چارج شیٹ مقررہ مدت کے اندر عدالت میں داخل نہیں کی گئی تھی۔
عدالت نے اپنے ریمارکس میں واشگاف کیا کہ قانون کی پاسداری اور عدالتی احکامات کی تعمیل کو ہر حال میں یقینی بنانا ہوگا۔ جج طاہر عباس سپرا نے یہ بھی بتایا کہ اس عدالتی فیصلے کی مکمل تفصیلات پر مبنی تحریری حکم نامہ بعد میں جاری کیا جائے گا۔
English Translation
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has taken strict action by sentencing DIG Jawad Tariq to one month in prison for failing to submit the investigation report (challan) within the stipulated timeframe in a protest case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders.
During the case hearing, ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra expressed severe displeasure over the police department's negligence and its failure to comply with prior judicial directives before announcing the verdict.
Alongside the prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of 100,000 PKR on DIG Jawad Tariq. The case pertains to a protest demonstration registered against the top tier of PTI leadership, wherein the police failed to file the formal charge sheet in a timely manner.
The court remarked that upholding legal procedures and implementing judicial orders must be ensured at all costs. Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra added that a detailed written order of the judgment would be issued subsequently.
