UAE Targeted Iranian Oil Refinery Amid Escalating Tensions, WSJ Reports

امریکی اخبار ’دی وال اسٹریٹ جرنل‘ نے اپنی ایک حالیہ رپورٹ میں دعویٰ کیا ہے کہ متحدہ عرب امارات نے کشیدہ جنگی حالات کے دوران ایران کے لاوان جزیرے میں واقع ایک آئل ریفائنری پر حملہ کیا۔ اس کارروائی کے نتیجے میں ریفائنری میں شدید آگ لگ گئی اور اسے عارضی طور پر بند کرنا پڑا۔
رپورٹ میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ یہ واقعہ اپریل کے اوائل میں اس وقت پیش آیا جب امریکی صدر ڈونلڈ ٹرمپ ایران کے ساتھ ممکنہ جنگ بندی کے اعلان کی تیاری کر رہے تھے۔ ذرائع نے اخبار کو بتایا کہ امریکا نے اس تنازع میں متحدہ عرب امارات کی شمولیت کو درپردہ طور پر سراہا۔

A report by the US publication, The Wall Street Journal, has revealed that the United Arab Emirates targeted an oil refinery on Iran's Lavan Island amid escalating wartime tensions. The strike triggered a massive fire, forcing the temporary shutdown of the facility.
According to the report, the attack took place in early April, just as US President Donald Trump was preparing to announce a potential ceasefire with Iran. Sources informed the journal that the United States quietly viewed the UAE's involvement in the conflict favorably.
The report further states that Iran retaliated by launching drone and ballistic missile strikes against the UAE and Kuwait. Sources indicate that Iran directed the majority of its attacks at the UAE, with approximately 2,800 strikes reported—a figure even higher than the number of attacks launched against Israel.
The publication noted that these retaliatory strikes significantly impacted the UAE's economy. There was a surge in employee layoffs and forced leaves across various organizations, alongside major overhauls in the country's national security policy.
