Eid-ul-Adha 2024: Scientific Prediction Suggests Celebration Date in Pakistan
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has predicted that Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan will likely fall on May 27, with a strong possibility of aligning with Saudi Arabia's celebration.
پاکستان میں عید الاضحیٰ کی ممکنہ تاریخ کے حوالے سے رویت ہلال ریسرچ کونسل نے اہم علمی پیشگوئی کی ہے۔ سائنسی تخمینوں کے مطابق، رواں سال عیدِ قربان 27 مئی، بروز بدھ کو ہونے کا امکان ظاہر کیا گیا ہے۔
کونسل کے سیکرٹری جنرل، خالد اعجاز مفتی نے بتایا کہ فلکیاتی حساب سے چاند کی پیدائش 16 اور 17 مئی کی درمیانی شب 1 بج کر 15 منٹ پر متوقع ہے۔ 17 مئی کی شام غروبِ آفتاب کے وقت چاند کی عمر 18 گھنٹے سے زائد ہو جائے گی، جس کی وجہ سے اس کے نظر آنے کے روشن امکانات ہیں۔
اگر مطلع صاف نہ ہونے کی وجہ سے 17 مئی کو چاند نظر نہ آیا، تو ذی القعدہ کا مہینہ 30 ایام پر مشتمل ہوگا۔ ایسی صورت میں یکم ذی الحج 19 مئی کو ہوگی اور عید الاضحیٰ کی تاریخ میں اسی مناسبت سے تبدیلی آئے گی۔
ماہرین کے مطابق اس سال پاکستان اور سعودی عرب میں ایک ہی دن عید منائے جانے کا بھی قوی امکان ہے، جس سے دونوں ممالک کے عوام میں یکسانیت کا احساس پیدا ہوگا۔
English Translation
The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has released a significant scientific prediction regarding the potential date for Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan. According to astronomical calculations, the religious festival is likely to be observed on Wednesday, May 27th.
Khalid Ejaz Mufti, the council's Secretary General, explained that the new moon is expected to be born between the night of May 16 and 17 at approximately 1:15 AM. By sunset on May 17, the moon's age across most of Pakistan will exceed 18 hours, a duration typically sufficient for a visible sighting.
The council further clarified that if weather conditions remain cloudy and the moon is not sighted on May 17, the Islamic month of Zil-Qa'dah will complete 30 days. In such a scenario, the 1st of Zil-Hajj would fall on Tuesday, May 19, shifting the date of Eid accordingly.
Interestingly, experts suggest a strong possibility that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia might celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on the same day this year. Such alignment in lunar sightings would synchronize the festivities across both nations, a trend that is often met with public approval.
