Fuel Sales Decline in Pakistan Amid Rising Prices and Inflation
Fuel demand and sales in Pakistan dropped significantly in April 2026 as rising petroleum prices and inflation continued to weaken consumer purchasing power.
پاکستان میں پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی قیمتوں میں مسلسل اضافے اور بلند ترین مہنگائی کے باعث اس کے اثرات نمایاں ہونا شروع ہوگئے ہیں، جس کے نتیجے میں اپریل 2026 کے دوران ملک بھر میں ایندھن کی طلب اور فروخت میں قابلِ ذکر کمی دیکھنے میں آئی ہے۔
حالیہ اعداد و شمار کے مطابق اپریل کے مہینے میں پیٹرولیم مصنوعات کی مجموعی فروخت 13 لاکھ 59 ہزار ٹن ریکارڈ کی گئی، جو مارچ کے مقابلے میں 6 فیصد جبکہ گزشتہ سال اپریل 2025 کے مقابلے میں 7 فیصد کم ہے۔
ماہانہ بنیادوں پر ہونے والی اس کمی کا سب سے زیادہ اثر پیٹرول اور ڈیزل کی فروخت پر پڑا۔ اپریل میں پیٹرول کی فروخت 8 فیصد کمی کے بعد 6 لاکھ 15 ہزار ٹن رہی، جبکہ ڈیزل کی فروخت میں 7 فیصد کمی کے ساتھ 5 لاکھ 50 ہزار ٹن تک محدود رہی۔ اسی طرح فرنس آئل کی طلب میں سب سے بڑی کمی دیکھنے میں آئی، جہاں 56 فیصد کمی کے بعد صرف 1 لاکھ 37 ہزار ٹن فروخت ریکارڈ کی گئی۔
رپورٹ میں مزید بتایا گیا ہے کہ جاری مالی سال کے پہلے دس ماہ کے دوران مجموعی طور پر 1 کروڑ 37 لاکھ 58 ہزار ٹن پیٹرولیم مصنوعات فروخت ہوچکی ہیں۔
ماہرین کے مطابق اس کمی کی بنیادی وجہ بڑھتی ہوئی قیمتیں اور عوام کی قوتِ خرید میں مسلسل کمی ہے۔
English Translation
The impact of rising petroleum prices and record-high inflation in Pakistan has started to become evident, as fuel demand and sales across the country witnessed a noticeable decline during April 2026.
According to the latest data, total petroleum product sales in April stood at 1.359 million tons, reflecting a 6 percent decrease compared to March and a 7 percent drop compared to April 2025.
On a monthly basis, the decline was most prominent in petrol and diesel sales. Petrol sales fell by 8 percent to 615,000 tons, while diesel sales dropped by 7 percent to 550,000 tons nationwide. The sharpest decline was observed in furnace oil demand, which plunged by 56 percent to just 137,000 tons.
The report further highlighted that during the first ten months of the current fiscal year, a total of 13.758 million tons of petroleum products have been sold in the country.
Experts attribute this downward trend primarily to rising prices and the decreasing purchasing power of consumers.
