IHC Adjourns £190 Million Case Against PTI Founder and Bushra Bibi Until May 20

The Islamabad High Court has granted an adjournment request filed by the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million settlement case, rescheduling the hearing for May 20.

During the court proceedings, NAB special prosecutors Javed Arshad and Rafi Maqsood were in attendance. However, the primary counsel for the accused, Barrister Salman Safdar, did not appear before the bench.

An interim plea for adjournment was presented during the session, to which the NAB prosecutor raised objections. The prosecutor argued that since private meetings are frequently mentioned, the details of these conversations should be made public.

In response, defense lawyer Shoaib Shaheen questioned whether the case should be tried in the court of law or through the media. Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar remarked lightheartedly that the court finally had the opportunity to hear Shoaib Shaheen’s voice today.

Granting a final opportunity for the lawyers to present their arguments, the court adjourned the hearing until May 20. The Chief Justice noted that while the adjournment was approved due to the sensitive nature of the case, the court expects significant progress in the next hearing.
