Lahore Hosts Pakistan's Largest Marathon and Cycling Event with 11,000 Participants
Thousands of citizens participated in Pakistan's biggest marathon and cycling race in Lahore, where Karachi's athletes dominated the cycling podiums.
صوبائی دارالحکومت لاہور میں پاکستان کی تاریخ کے سب سے بڑے میراتھن اور سائیکلنگ مقابلوں کا میلہ سج گیا، جس میں ملک کے طول و عرض سے بچوں، خواتین، مردوں اور معذور افراد سمیت ہزاروں شہریوں نے جوش و خروش سے حصہ لیا۔
اس یادگار تقریب کا آغاز علی الصبح 6 بجے لبرٹی چوک سے ہوا، جہاں صوبائی وزیر کھیل فیصل ایوب کھوکھر نے خود سائیکل چلا کر ایونٹ کا افتتاح کیا۔ اسپورٹس بورڈ کے زیر اہتمام ہونے والے ان مقابلوں میں 11 ہزار سے زائد ایتھلیٹس اور عام شہریوں نے رجسٹریشن کروا کر اپنی فٹنس کا ثبوت دیا۔
ایونٹ کو مختلف زمروں میں تقسیم کیا گیا تھا، جس میں مردوں کے لیے 21 کلومیٹر کی میراتھن اور سائیکلنگ ریس رکھی گئی، جبکہ خواتین نے 5 کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر مشتمل مقابلوں میں شرکت کی۔ اس کے علاوہ فیملیز کے لیے خصوصی 'فن ریس' اور خصوصی افراد کے لیے ویل چیئر ریس بھی ایونٹ کا خاص مرکز رہیں۔
نتائج کے مطابق 21 کلومیٹر مردوں کی سائیکلنگ ریس میں کراچی کے علی الیاس فاتح قرار پائے، جبکہ لاہور کے عاقب شاہ نے دوسری اور کے پی کے کے ثنا اللہ نے تیسری پوزیشن اپنے نام کی۔
خواتین کے زمرے میں کراچی کی کھلاڑیوں نے میدان مار لیا؛ 5 کلومیٹر سائیکلنگ ریس میں زینب نے پہلی، انیسہ نے دوسری اور رابی نے تیسری پوزیشن حاصل کر کے ٹرافی اپنے نام کی۔
شہر بھر میں اس بڑے ایونٹ کے لیے سیکیورٹی کے غیر معمولی انتظامات کیے گئے تھے، جبکہ ٹریفک پولیس نے شہریوں کی سہولت کے لیے متبادل راستوں اور ٹریفک کی روانی کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے خصوصی پلان پر عملدرآمد کیا۔

Lahore hosted Pakistan's largest-ever marathon and cycling event, drawing thousands of participants including men, women, children, and persons with disabilities from across the country.
The event kicked off at 6:00 AM at the iconic Liberty Chowk, officially inaugurated by Provincial Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, who participated by cycling himself. More than 11,000 athletes and citizens joined this massive sporting gala.
The competitions featured various categories: a 21km marathon and cycling race for men, and a 5km marathon and cycling race for women. A 2km 'Family Fun Race' was also organized, alongside a 1km wheelchair race specifically for special persons.
In the men's 21km cycling category, Ali Ilyas from Karachi secured the first position, followed by Lahore's Aqib Shah in second, and Sanaullah from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in third place.
Karachi's female athletes dominated the 5km cycling event, with Zainab clinching the top spot, while Aneesa and Rabi secured the second and third positions, respectively.
To ensure the smooth execution of the event, stringent security measures were in place. The city administration also implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan, providing alternative routes to minimize inconvenience for the public.
