Cotton Crop Revival Crucial for Pakistan's Economic Recovery, Says PCBA Chairman

Rana Shafqat, Chairman of the Pakistan Cotton Brokers Association (PCBA), has stated that the revival of the cotton industry is essentially the revival of the national economy. He warned that any negligence in addressing the challenges faced by this sector could lead to further economic complications for the country.

In his statement, he expressed complete solidarity with the letter sent by APTMA Chairman Mian Arshad Kamran to the Federal Minister for National Food Security, Rana Tanveer Hussain. The letter urges the government to immediately implement the strategic decisions made regarding the Cotton Recovery Program under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Rana Shafqat noted that the cotton sowing season is currently active, with Punjab having achieved only about 30% of its provincial target so far. He emphasized that urgent and decisive measures are required to improve cotton yield. He appealed to the Federal Minister to ensure the swift execution of the recovery program to provide a much-needed boost to the national economy.
