Pakistan Corporate Sector Growth: SECP Reports 12.5% Rise in Company Registrations

Pakistan's corporate sector has witnessed a significant surge in foreign investment and new company registrations, signaling a robust recovery in national economic activities.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), during the first quarter from January to March, 220 companies incorporated foreign shareholders. The paid-up capital for companies featuring foreign directors was recorded at 657 million rupees during this period.

SECP data highlights that foreign capital was primarily directed toward the trading, services, IT, construction, and mining sectors. In total, 10,318 new companies were registered during these three months, representing a 12.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Of the newly registered entities, 58.6% were private limited companies and 37.9% were single-member companies. Provincially, Punjab led with 50.2% of new registrations, followed by Islamabad at 19% and Sindh at 15.5%.

A sector-wise breakdown shows that IT and e-commerce dominated with 2,065 new registrations, followed by trading (1,687), services (1,288), real estate (934), tourism (581), food and beverages (497), and education (363).

The SECP also reported a 27% increase in corporate filings, totaling 95,823 processes, while post-incorporation filings saw a 33% rise, indicating higher compliance and active business operations within the formal sector.
