Sindh to Launch Religious Textbooks for Hindu Students in Public Schools

In a significant move to make the education system in Sindh more inclusive, the provincial government has announced the publication of specialized textbooks for Hindu students enrolled in government schools, focusing on their religious teachings.

Following the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, formal religious education for Hindu students is being integrated into the public school curriculum to cater to the diverse needs of the student population.

According to the Sindh Textbook Board, religious books for Hindu students from Grade 3 to Grade 5 are currently being developed. These books are scheduled for distribution across the province starting in the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.

The decision was finalized during a meeting of the Sindh Curriculum Council's executive committee, following detailed consultations with representatives of the Hindu community. Official data reveals that approximately 129,119 Hindu students are currently studying in Sindh's public schools, with the highest concentrations in Tharparkar (26,642) and Umerkot (21,584).

Education authorities stated that this initiative aims to promote religious tolerance and ensure that all students, regardless of their faith, have equal opportunities to receive an education that aligns with their beliefs.
